Bill Johnson co-founded Beacon Realty Capital's predecessor firm in 1985 and is a founding principal at Beacon Realty Capital, where he manages relationships with capital sources, works with clients in structuring their capital transactions, and developed the mortgage servicing operation. He has more than 25 years of real estate lending and mortgage banking/brokerage experience in the Chicago and Midwest markets, and during his career has originated and placed more than $1 billion of all types of commercial real estate financing.
Mr. Johnson began his real estate career in 1975 with Mutual of New York (MONY), where he was responsible for originating and closing permanent and construction loans, joint ventures and equity investments. In 1981, he joined Crocker Mortgage Corporation in Chicago as Vice President where he ran and was responsible for their Chicago mortgage brokerage office. In 1985, he co-founded Smith & Johnson, Inc., which subsequently became Beacon Realty Capital, Inc. in 1995.
Mr. Johnson graduated from the University of Wisconsin Real Estate Program with B.S. and M.S. degrees in Urban Land Economics and Real Estate Investment Analysis. He is an active member and past Director of the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association and is active in the Mortgage Bankers Association of America. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Illinois and Wisconsin, and a licensed Loan Solicitor in Wisconsin. Mr. Johnson is a past Board Member of Chicago Youth Programs, Inc., a non-profit organization serving the comprehensive medical and educational needs of at-risk children in several Chicago inner city communities.
